Austenite-Based Fe-Mn-Al-C Lightweight Steels: Research and Prospective
نویسندگان
چکیده
Fe-Mn-Al-C lightweight steels have been investigated intensely in the last a few years. There are basically four types of steels, ferritic, ferrite-based duplex/triplex (ferrite + austenite, ferrite austenite martensite), austenite-based duplex austenite), and single-austenitic. Among these generally exhibit high strength, good ductility, outstanding weight reduction effects. Due to addition Al C content, κ’-carbide κ-carbide prone form grain interior at boundaries respectively, play critical roles controlling microstructures mechanical properties steels. The microstructural evolution, strengthening mechanisms, deformation behaviors quite different from those mild conventional TRIP/TWIP due their stacking fault energies. relationship between has widely investigated, several mechanisms also proposed for In this paper, current research works reviewed prospectives discussed.

متن کاملFe–Al–Mn–C lightweight structural alloys: a review on the microstructures and mechanical properties
Adding a large amount of light elements such as aluminum to steels is not a new concept recalling that several Fe-Al-Mn-C alloys were patented in 1950s for replacement of nickel or chromium in corrosion resistance steels. However, the so-called lightweight steels or low-density steels were revisited recently, which is driven by demands from the industry where steel has served as a major structu...
متن کاملTHE EFFECT OF STRAINING BEFORE AND DURING AUSTENITE TO FERRITE TRANSFORMATION ON THE FINAL CHARACTERISTICS OF SI-MN TRIP STEELS
TRIP (TRansformation- lnduced- Plasticity) behavior is a powerful mechanism to improve mechanical properties. The basis of TRIP phenomena is the transformation of retained austenite with optimum characteristics (volume fraction, stability, size and morphology) to martensite during deformation at room temperature. Accordingly, the first requirement to obtain desired TRIP effects is to produce an...
متن کاملEffects of Phase Evolution on Mechanical Properties of Laser-Welded Ferritic Fe-Al-Mn-C Steel
In the present study, the evolution of microstructure in laser-welded joints of ferrite-based dual-phase Fe-Al-Mn-C steel sheets was analyzed and its effect on the mechanical properties of the joints was investigated. Laser welding was performed using different powers and welding speeds to attain different heat inputs. Electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD) examinations and hardness measuremen...
متن کاملEffect or Inoculation on Microstructure and Properties of Low C-Mn and Low Alloy Steels
Effect of the addition of various inoculants on the morphology and mechanical properties of low C-Mn and low alloy steel samples is studied by thermal and mechanical processing of the samples after solidification. According to the results obtained from metallographic studies with the electron microscope and microanalysis with x-rays, the distribution of inoculating agents in the steel matrix is...
